Cab Advertising Cost in Delhi-NCR: How Per-Play Pricing Works

What cab advertising costs in Delhi-NCR, how per-play pricing is calculated, worked budget examples, and what to check before you sign a quotation.

By Urban Media3 min read

"How much does cab advertising cost?" is usually the first question a brand asks, and the honest answer is: it depends on how the seller prices it. This guide explains Urban Media's per-play model, works through real budget examples, and lists what to check in any cab advertising quotation in Delhi-NCR.

Two ways cab advertising is priced

Most cab media in India is sold in one of two ways:

  • Per cab, per month. You pay a fixed amount for each vehicle carrying your ad, regardless of how often it is shown.
  • Per ad play. You pay for the number of times your ad is actually scheduled to play on the screen.

Urban Media uses per-play pricing for in-cab screens, because it ties the budget directly to the volume of advertising you are buying.

The formula

The published reference rate is ₹0.25 per ad play. Each ad play runs for up to 30 seconds.

Budget = total ad plays × ₹0.25

To estimate how many ad plays a campaign can deliver, we use a planning assumption of 50 ad plays per cab per day:

Planned ad plays = cabs × 50 × days

Worked examples

CampaignCabsDaysPlanned ad playsEstimated budget
Short test10157,500₹1,875
One-month campaign253037,500₹9,375
City-wide push100301,50,000₹37,500

These are planning estimates before applicable taxes. The final price, scope and dates are confirmed in a written quotation.

You can also work backwards: decide your budget, divide by the rate to get the ad plays you can buy, then choose the cabs and days to deliver them. The campaign calculator does this for you and flags when your cab selection cannot deliver the plays you want.

What an ad play is — and is not

An ad play is a playback event: your ad was shown on a screen. It is not a count of unique viewers and not a guaranteed impression. Actual delivery depends on cab operating hours, vehicle and display availability, scheduling and network conditions, so it can be higher or lower than the planning estimate.

Be cautious of any cab advertising quote that promises a precise audience size without explaining how it was measured.

What to check in a cab advertising quotation

  • The unit you are paying for — per cab, per month, per play or per impression.
  • What delivery means — plays scheduled, plays delivered, or estimated viewers.
  • Ad length and rotation — how long each ad runs and how many brands share the screen.
  • Creative requirements and deadlines — format, length and approval process.
  • Taxes and payment terms — what is included and when payment falls due.
  • What happens if delivery is interrupted — how shortfalls are handled.
